commercial printers won't touch it

xavier

I've spent hours desighning and editing my brochure with you great program. I finnaly after a couple of weeks had something to be proud of. I printed it to pdf and sent a couple out and the responce was great so i decided to get them printed proffesionally. No-one can print them because their printers can't seperate the colors - DOH!!! i'm told it needs to be CMYK!?

even the printers advertised on your website won't touch them (i only called 2 admitidly) They told me it would be cheeper to get a graphic artisit to redesign it in quark or adobe and then get it printed!! WHAT A LET DOWN!! UP TO THIS POINT I THOUGHT IT WAS A FANTASTIC PRODUCT!! maybe i'm missing something (i hope i am) but surely a publishing tool should have a CMYK color mode in it?

I was looking forward to start my next project in infopath... 1 i can't because i have to sort this out 2. i'm warry of finnishing my forms only to find out i can't publish them on a website.

PS. i don't care about my grama or spelling, no i don't have a manual and yes i have read everything online i can find before making my point - so thanks but only help on this problem

Please provide us with the two commericial printers that are telling you
that they are not supporting it from the list you called.

Take it to someone who does digital printing. Problem solved.

There is absolutely no reason that a print shop that knows what it is doing
can't make your files work.

There are also places that specialize in making negatives (prepress service
bureau) that may be able to handle your files. Unless they, too, are stuck
in the "quark-mac mode and have no periphjeral vision.

I am such a shop. There are others who hang around here as well.

Where are you located?

Misunderstanding!

You install the Generic Color PS for Commercial Printing which is part of
the 2003 CD install, and then print composite CMYK to a file (in postscript
format that will be).
Then, make a PDF thru Acrobat, and thats it!
I regularly print a 52 page full color professional magazine using just
Publisher 2003 and Photoshop Elements.

Xav bit strange with you living in the UK you don't use Serif Software like PagePlus 9.0 and the Serif PrintStore.

PagePlus 9.0 also includes PDF and CMYK separation in the program with no extras to buy. With PDF you could take it to any printer.

I did an ad for a magazine using Pub 2002, PSE, and then Acrobat for my CMYK
..pdf. Worked like a charm and the colors were lovely. :)

I am having a similar frustration! I found a way to
convert to CYMK, but it converts the text to CYMK as
well. The printer only wants the graphics and photos
CYMK. Did you get any answers? To convert to CYMK, you
go to Tools/Commercial Printing Tools/Color Printing and
select CYMK, but it changes the fonts too!
