compacting entourage database - not enough space

T

tina

i don't have enough space on my (partitioned) drive to compact the
entourage database. (entourage db is 4.63GB and i have 1.5GB free
space on the system drive where it is located-in order to compact it
needs to duplicate it - another 4.6 GB)
is there any way i can do the compacting on my external HD where there
is plenty of room?
any other way i can do this?
thank you -
tina

First, you are getting dangerously close to having severe problems. Your
system needs some free space. Approx 10%. You need to clear out some of your
files. You'll find some links to tools that will help you find the large
files that you could move to your external HD. WhatSize is very easy to use.
I would start with it.

Problems from Insufficient RAM and Free Hard Disk Space

You can move the Microsoft User Data folder and place an alias in your
User's Documents folder, but I feel you should address your space issue
rather than trying to move it to rebuild.

I agree with Diane. How about moving other files from your internal HD to
the external one to free up space on the internal drive to compact the
Entourage DB -- and have some spare room too?
