I have been searching through the archives for information on
compacting Outlook.pst in Outlook 2000.
There are many threads on the same pattern: someone asks how to compact
because their pst keeps on getting bigger, no matter what they delete.
Then someone tells them where to find the option in the menu.
Then the original poster says that they tried that and it didn't work.
I have tried it and it doesn't work. At least, it runs for about one
second and does nothing. (I would expect several minutes to compact a
file the size of mine.) I have run detect and repair, which took ages,
but did not fix the compact function.
Is there really no information about how to compact beyond where to
click in the menu? (Apart from suggestions like emptying the deleted
items, duh.)
