Company Name / Verb Grammar

I have a company name in a document (e.g. "Smith and Jones") that causes Word
to flag the verb after the company name as not matching the subject.

For example: Smith and Jones recommends that the widgets be rejected.

Word 2003 wants me to use "recommend" instead of "recommends".

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this annoyance?

I would suggest that the company name might actually be "Smith & Jones"?
Does this cause the same grammar suggestion? If so, use nonbreaking spaces
in the company name. Or accept the fact that you know more than the grammar
checker and just ignore it,
