Roman

Hi,
I am working with MSproject 2007, the local version (no server).
I try to activate the 'compare project version' button, but nothing is
happened.
When I worked with MSP2003, it worked just fine.
Anyone know?

Thanks

Hello Roman,

I am also initially got inconsistant results using Compare Project
Versions in Project 2007 Professional. When I first attempted to
compare two Project 2007 files, I got the following message:

"You are tyring to save a file saved in an older file format. Your
settings do not allow you to save the file in older file formats. To
change your setting, navigate to the "Security" tab in the Options
dialog box."

The compare did complete but only showed me task added to the second
project file, it did not show me any changed tasks.

Once I set my security settings to "Allow loading files with legacy or
non default file formats." and ran the compare again, it did function as
it did in earlier versions.

What specific errors/issues are you seeing? Are you using Project 2003
files or files created in Project 2007?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hello Roman,

The Compare Project Versions is actually a COM Add-in file named
compprj.dll. Try the following:
Tools > Customize > Toolbars. In the customize dialog box, select the
Commands tab. In the Categories: list scroll to find All Commands.
Click on All Commands and in the Commands: list on the right find
ComAddInsDialog. Drag that command to a toolbar. Click the COM
Add-Ins... toolbar button and you should see the list of add-ins. My
installation shows the following when I select the Compare Project
Versions Utility:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\COMPPRJ.DLL

Try removing and then adding the file.

You may also have success with Office Diagnostics repairing the problem.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
