Compare Project Versions - Run-time error '13': Type mismatch

I am using the Compare Project Versions tool in MSP 2003, the tool yields a
"Type mismatch" Run-Time error when processing a project schedule. Has
anyone else experienced this problem and what could cause this error?

Michael,
Type mismatch, that's an interesting error with the compare utility. The
only thing I can think of off hand is that one (or more) of the fields
being compared has different types of data between the two files. For
example, one file has a number in a spare number field and the other
file has a formula in that field. I'm not sure that would do it but I
would look very carefully at the view Table for each file and make sure
the type of data in each field is consistent between the two files.

If you can't find anything obvious and you are willing to send me the
files via e-mail, I will find out what is going on. If you send the
files, be sure to zip them and include an explanation of what options
you selected in the compare utility.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your input, I took a look at the fields that were being
compared and could not find anything obvious. Probably the most interesting
test was when I removed all fields with the exception of the ID and Task Name
fields I still recieved the error.

I have two files that are derived from the project files that gave me the
error. The new have three tasks, the error occurs while processing the
Version 2 file on the second task. I can e-mail these files and I would
aprreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks

Mike
