Compare Tables

Charles Phillips

Hello,
I am using MS-Access 2003.
I have 2 tables. 1 table is from a previous db, the 2nd table I created.
I want to compare the 2 tables for individuals, by lastname, & the display
the lastnames.
Is that possible??? If so, point me to some examples/samples...

Thank you,

You may mean something different by "compare the 2 tables for individuals"
than I do. What do you mean?

Are you saying you want to see which records in both tables have the same
LastNames? If so, what will you do if you have two "Smith"s?

Hello,
Sorry I am not very good at explaining myself, but what you stated is
exactly what I want.
If I have 2 Smith's", I want to delete the Smith from the 1st table.
Once I deleted ALL the names I do not need, I want to import them into the
2nd table (the 1 I created)...

Thank you,

I may not have explained myself well. If you have two "Smith" entries, are
you quite certain that they are duplicates, and not actually representing
two different persons, each named "Smith"?

You can use the new query wizard to find unmatched values between two
tables. You could use this to find all the entries in Table1 that are not
in Table2. Then you could write a query to append these (the first query's
results) to Table2.

Or am I still not understanding?
