I have a spreadsheet with 6 columns. The first 3 columns are related to 1
data source and the last 3 columns are related to a second data source.
1 2 3 4 5 6
X A 50.00
X B 51.00
X C 52.00
X D 53.00 X E 53.00
X D 53.00
The fields will be sorted by amount and staggered so like amounts appear on
the same line. There may be multiple like amounts on one side and only one
equal amount on the other side.
Prior to building this sheet, a macro takes exact matches from both data
sources (all 3 fields) and copies it to another sheet. The results are the
items that remain. However, there may be matches in this data but the items
don't match exactly because of keying errors, etc.
What I would like to do is populate a form with 2 text boxes (?) that line
up the data like it appears above. The user would be able to scroll through
both text boxes at the same time and select items that are matches (could be
1 item from one side and multiple from the other, could be one and one, could
be multiple and multiple), push a button, remove those items from the text
box and the data sources, and move them to the matched sheet.
My questions are:
(1) Are text boxes the way to go or should I use combo or list boxes?
(2) I'm looking for a control that will move both boxes in sync.....Can I
use a spin button to control this? Can I tie one scroll both that will move
both boxes?
(3) Once a user selects items from both sides, can I delete them from the
boxes or do I have to delete them from the spreadsheet and rebuild the boxes?
Thanks for the suggestions. If you are aware of any example that would be
similar to what I'm trying to accomplish that would be great as well.
Thanks....
