Comparison Between Project Pro 2003 and using Project Server 2003

Does anyone have a comparison chart that will break down the differences
between using Project Pro as a stand alone application compared to using
enterprise features w/use of a project server?

thanks

The Main Reason I ask, is we are testing our project for a 10 user
deployment, all of the users will use project from within our network so
I do not see a large benefit in buying and configuring a server to run
project when we can simply setup a share with all of our project files
and use the individually. I was hoping to find information that will
show me exactly what benefits the enterprise features will give us so we
can decide is the additional cost is a value based on how we would be
using it.

thanks for the quick response.

Are there limitations in using project standard 2003 compared to using
pro w/a project server? besides connecting to the enterprise server for
sharing of project files. do all the features you can do in project
server work in standard just in a different fashion? such as resource
allocation?

Hi Kevin,

No. Project Professional without Project Server works exactly the same
as Project Standard. If you do not need the features of Project Server,
purchase the Standard edition. Also, just to clarify, Project Server
does not allow the simultaneous editing of a project file by multiple
users. Project Server allows access to data from the project files
through SQL.

I hope this helps.

Yes it does,

I have been trying to gather information to explain just that, so my
department does not allocate our budget towards implementing project
server 2003 when we do not use its key features

thanks for your time,

One more question for the day,

Can someone explain to me the benefits of using the portfolio analyzer?
I am not familiar with OLAP cubes and what data it would use / process
to give the OLAP cubes results.

this is the one feature that I have been asked about because it only
works w/ Project Server

Thanks Again
