Compatiability issue with Microsoft Outlook 2002 and MS Office 200

I am planning to purchase MS Office for Home and Students 2007. My current
programme is MS Office XP for Students and Teachers, and I assume I cannot
use the upgrade MS Office 2007.
My question is - Assuming I have to uninstall my current MS Office and
thereby losing MS Outlook which was part of this programme, is there any way
I can keep MS Outlook rather than spending a small fortune getting the
Outlook 2007 edition?
I hope this makes sense and someone is able to help.
Thanks

If you just install the 2007 version, it will upgrade all of your prior versions to 2007. Since there is no Outlook 2007 included in the HSE, Outlook will not be upgraded. Select a custom install to ensure it stays installed.
