Compatibility error from Word 2003 to Word 2007 - Saving files

A co-worker of mine saved a document in Word 2007 at work, but with the
compatibility mode Word 97/2003. When another co-worker tried to open it up
at home using Word 2003, they were given erros messages saying that they
needed to choose a file conversion type to convert the file. The file ended
up being all over the place...not exactly what they were looking for. Is
there some sort of patch that is needed or a type of setting that when you
save, needs to be clicked in order for it to save correctly and open up in an
earlier version of Word..in this case Word 2003?!?!

If it was prompted for conversion - which should not have happened if it was
in Word 97/2003 format - it suggests the document was corrupt. How was it
transported to home? Was it saved to a flash memory stick or some other
removable media? If so, you should NEVER save or edit with a document on any
type of removable media. Always work on the local HDD and then Copy to or
from the removable media.

Please note that Users of Office 2000 - 2003 can download the FREE Office
2007 compatibility add-in which no only will let them open and work on Word
2007 format documents, but will also give them all the new fonts providing
greater compatibility.
