compatibility issues involving groups

I am trying to use an xlsx doc which has grouped checked boxes. The groups are not showing in their cells but instead are all bunched in the upper left hand corner of the worksheet. I cannot move them or delete them or interact with them in any way. I can occasionally use a pc and save as an xls doc. Unfortunately that is not working on the doc I am currently working on. Any ideas? thanks.

If you can't move or delete them, they're probably ActiveX objects
rather than checkboxes from the Forms toolbar.

If that's the case, you can't use them in MacXL, since it doesn't
support ActiveX.

Also - *no* objects (including ActiveX) actually are *in* cells -
instead they exist in the drawing layer "above" the cell layer.
