I am interested in buying a laptop to coordinate with my
home computers. Both of those have either Office 2000 or
XP Pro. Will I be able to share files between them if the
laptop has MS Works 2003 installed?

Sharing files with *any* version of Works 2003 is not straight-forward. In
many cases yuou'll have to export Works files into other formats like RTF or
CSV in order to edit them in Office.

However, if either of your Office products is the "full" version (i.e. not OEM
or Educational), then you may install that product on a laptop as well as a
desktop. See the EULA for full details.
