Compatibility mode with XL 2007

I’ve got a complex XL 2007 file (which contains macros) that in 2007 mode
takes 2 mins to close but when I have it in compatibility mode (I need other
staff members to look at it) it takes over 9 mins to close. Is there
anything I can do about this?
