"Compatibility mode" simply tells you that you are working on a document
that is in the old file format. The message is there to remind you that
certain features, such as SmartArt, are not available until you save your
document in the new file format (.docx). There is no way of turning this
message off, though.
So what is this new "compatability mode" that's next to the document name at
the top of the window? Anyone know? It's not in the help menu, and I don't
like it there. I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I've set up
preferences not to make compatibility checks, but that doesn't seem related.
Any ideas? Thanks.
