Compatibility Pack.

I have down loaded the 2007 compatibility pack and when I open an xlsx file
it says converting file, but I can't find the xlsx extention when I save as
to send back to the person using excel 2007. I am running Office Standard
Edition 2003 if that make a differance. Please help. What do I need to do,
or am I doing something wrong?

First, xlsx is converting the 07 file to an 03 file because you are running
Ofc 03. There is no need to send the file back as xlsx (Ofc 07 extention
designation). The receiver running Ofc 07 will be able to open the Ofc 03
file.

How do I get the compatibility pack to convert upon opening a word document?
Instead of simply opening it and me having to do Save As then selecting the
file type Word03.

Thanks..

Hi Cire,

I'm not sure I'm following your scenario as you mentioned both opening and saving together.

In Word 2003 if you open a .docx file that should start the compatibility pack conversion if it's running correctly. To check, in
Word 2003 turn on
Tools=>Options=>General
[x] Confirm conversions at open, then use File=>Open to select a .docX or .docM file. You should get a dialog box asking you to
confirm the
conversions.

For saving, set the preferred default file type you want in
Tools=>Options=>Save
