compatibility with Java

Hi there,
my pc is xp sp2 professional. recently I installed office 2007, since then I
could not use Java. The window will be closed immediately when I click the
java icon on the web site (java version: j2re-1_4_02). After I coverted to my
old version office, there was no any problem at all. I am wondering if there
any compatiblity issue of 2007 office.

Your Java is old and outdated. The present version is jre1_6 with Update 02. Suggest strongly for security reasons that you uninstall your version and install the latest one from Sun

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your help. I uninstalled all java first, then installed the
latested version jre1_6 with Update 02. It was the only java installed on my
pc. After installation, I was able to open the java link on the browser ie 7.
But after I closed the browser and reopen a new ie window, the java link
didn't work again. And I tried install and uninstall several times, the java
link on the browser only worked right after the installation. It seems all
my ie settings are correct and has no problem with the java installation. Is
there anything I should change on those settings?
