All the computers at my school are running Office 07(only pc's of course). If I get Office 08 for my mac can i create files on the 08 and then view them and edit them on the 07 version at school and vice versa? This includes word, excel, and powerpoint.

The default file formats (e.g., .docx, .xlsx, pptx) are identical
between XL07 and XL08. Naturally some features exist only on one
platform or the other. Each will be able to read and write files that
the other writes and reads.

Note that one big difference is the lack of VBA in Office 2008 - if
you'll need to use macros/add-ins, XL08 will not meet that need.

Yes, you can. Note that you can also do this with earlier versions of
Office, such as Office 2004, since Office 2007 can read and write both the
old and new file formats (as can Mac Office 2008).
