Compatiblilty problems?

I have recently upgraded my PP from 2003 to 2007 and I have had all sorts of
problems. I have been communicating with you about an error message about not
being able to load the adds ons and after 25 messages back and forth I have
decided to live with this problem. Now I have another. When I try to save an
updated presentation I am not offered the option as saving as a .pps. I am
offered the option of saving as a 2003 .pps or I can save it as a 2007 .ppsx.
What is the extra x and is this the same as the 2003.pps? When I had loaded
Office 2007 I deleted all of my 2003 office but then I "lost" a lot of my
presentations so I did a custom load of the 2003 PP just to operate. How can
I resolve this issue and make my 2003 presentations visible to 2007 and can I
get the save as .pps back for the 2007?

Thanks

Hi Steve We have got to stop meeting like this! Am I supposed to be able to
save as a .pps file with 2007. If so how can I stop 2003 hijacking it every
time? In the list of file options to save .pps when I have opened 2007 is not
an option. Saving as a .pps 2003 is. Can I get rid of this option and
introduce 2007. The only reason I reinstalled 2003 is because I could not
access my made PP presentations with 2007.
Help please? Thanks

Highjacking it is probably a very loose term, let me be more pedantic. My
point is that as I am using 2007 I would have expected to see a save as .pps
in the options of saving when I had made a presentation but the only .pps
option I get is named as 97-2003. When I next open that it opens with my PP
2003 program that I had to reload just to work on all of my old presentations
as 2007 could not see them. If I click on open on the button then my large
collection in my PP folder was missing most of the files. Is 2007 supposed
to offer a simple save as .pps without qualification as 97-2003?

Hi Charlie

Sorry to jump in but Steve is probably kind of busy at the mo.

ppsx is the new pps (that is, ppsx is a slide show in 2007 format, whereas
pps is a slide show in 97-03 format). And 2007 should be able to read all
your 97-03 files - I think it has problems with older versions. When you say
2007 can't see these files, what do you mean?

Hi Lucy. Thanks for the reply. It is what I have asked Steve before but he
asks me another question without clarifying that .ppsx is the same as .pps in
2003. It is all I want to hear really. When I say that 2007 can't see some of
my older PP presentations I mean just that. I try to open an older
presentation in 2007 to modify it and it is not in the PP folder. Rather than
do a search for it I custom reloaded just PP 2003 and there are all of my
files. I am working between the two and from now will save all of my files
new and modified as .ppsx.
thanks again

Thanks to you both Steve and Lucy. I think I have got the idea and even
though I still cannot explain why I cannot just have 2007 as my PP program
and it find all of my PP files I am happy to have 2003 as a backup to find my
older files. I think we can put this to bed now.. Thanks again.

Do you have the compatibility pack installed? I'm not sure it will help, but
2007 here can certainly see & open .ppt files and I'm trying to think why
yours wouldn't.
