Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec

All of a sudden, when I quit Excel 2004, the message in the subject above (
Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec) appears as a dialog window. I
must click OK; then Excel quits. Any ideas what this means, and how I might
solve this? Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions.

Try disabling the Acrobat starttp items in /Micosoft Office
2004/Office/Startup/Excel

Try disabling the Acrobat starttp items in /Micosoft Office
2004/Office/Startup/Excel

You disable them by replacing them with folders of exactly the same name,
thus preventing the files from being recreated on next startup.

Many thanks to Paul, Corentin and Daiya Mitchell for your valuable advice.
It worked perfectly.

I have done this repeatedly, but the files keep returning. I have replaced
the folders multiple times.

Is there a preference or a setting I am missing?

Are you sure you're putting the folders in the correct place, with
exactly the same filenames (including the extension)?

Take a look at

http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/pdftoolbars.html

to confirm.

If that doesn't work, could you post back with some more information -
including whether you've repaired disk permissions, whether you're
starting up from the same disk as the applications reside on, whether
you get the dialog that asks you if you want to "fix" acrobat (and
whether you've told it not to ask again).

Everytime you open Acrobat it will recreate these pdfMaker files under
the guise of "repairing" Acrobat.

Here are the instructions for removing these pdfMaker files and
preventing their recreation:

========

Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker is a macro that installs with Adobe Acrobat
Standard and Professional and creates PDF files from Microsoft Office
applications. This document provides instructions for disabling
Acrobat PDFMaker in Microsoft Office X applications.

To disable Acrobat PDFMaker in Microsoft Office X applications:

1. Move the following PDFMaker components to the Trash:

-- PDFMaker.dot from the Applications/Microsoft Office
X/Office/Startup/Word folder

-- PDFMaker.ppa from the Applications/Microsoft Office
X/Office/Startup/PowerPoint folder

-- PDFMaker.xla from the Applications/Microsoft Office
X/Office/Startup/Excel folder

-- PDFMakerLib from the Applications/Microsoft Office X folder

2. Start Adobe Acrobat:

-- If the Repair Setup dialog box appears, proceed to step 3.

-- If the Repair Setup dialog box doesn't appear, do the following:

a. Move the PDFMaker components listed in step 1 to the Trash.

b. Choose Help > Detect and Repair.

c. In the Repair Setup dialog box, click Continue.

d. Quit Acrobat.

e. Move the PDFMaker components listed in step 1 to the Trash.

f. Start Acrobat.

3. In the Repair Setup dialog box, deselect PDFMaker, select Do Not
Show Repair Setup Again, and then click Continue.

Hello, Sorry to keep bringing this up but they continue to be recreated. Is
there a setting I am missing somewhere that keeps creating them?

Also when I receive excel files from others it keeps making them read only
attachements, I need to go in and physically change the settings to read and
write? Is there a settign I am missing?
