"Compile error in hidden module"

I keep getting the above mentioned error every time I open Word, try to save
or save-as any document. To save I have to close the document and then say
yes to save changes.

I have researched in Help and the message I get is as follows:

"A protected module can't be displayed. This error has the following cause
and solution:

There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it
can't be displayed because the project is protected.
Unprotect the project, and then run the code again to view the error.

For additional information, select the item in question and press F1(in
Windows) or HELP (on the Macintosh)."

Any explaination of how to solve the problem would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply to the post. I did previously try
the solution you mentioned but it did not solve the problem.

I apologize based on the following portion of your reply if you feel your
time was wasted. Comments like this are why I should have trusted my
instincts and not posted my first and only message to this board. In the
future, I will look for soluntions from an alternate source.

"Or of course you could look at the reply to the message immediately preceding
yours, on the same topic. <sigh>"

No! Stick with it. Suzanne has saved many of us countless hours, and usually
gives exactly the required answer.

What happens if you start in Safe Mode? From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Has Word started correctly now? If so, it proves almost
without any doubt that you have a third party add-in that is erroring. Read
the whole troubleshooting document for further help.
