compiled pages include incorrect links to local files

When I compile my site in Publisher, something goes wrong. Several of
the compiled pages include links to the graphics files on my local
machine, rather than pointing to the images in the index_files
directory that are created as part oft he compile (Publish to the
Web). It seems to be related to the Master page that I have used for
these pages, but its really odd.

When the pages were uploaded, I noticed that the graphics on some
pages were blank, and viewing the source code showed that the html had
been compiled with lots of references to files on my C: drive. As a
fix I've had to hand-edit each of the .htm files to remove the links,
and point them to the index_files directory on the server.

Anyone had similar problems, or overcome them?

What version of publisher are you using?
What browser are you using?
What service is hosting the site?
What is the URL to the site?

As Rob so succinctly put it, you can't use a Master Page in a Publisher web
publication. Images on a Master Page will show links to the images on your
computer.

Move everything off the Master Page to the main page of the publication and
try again.

Firstly, thanks for all these comments. I thought the purpose of a
Master Page was to basically use it as a template for all the pages on
your site. So I just put some standard headers and footers on the
Master Page, and set each of my pages to use that master. If its not
there for that purpose, whats it for?
Thanks again for your advice

Your logic is good, but as stated, the Master Page will not work in a
Publisher web publication. It should only be used in a print publication.
Why for? I don't know, and it would be a handy feature, but for now it is
not supported in a web publication. Hopefully we will see it in future
versions.

Its for print.

Master Pages do exist in html editors like EW and DW and probably others as
well, but these are not to be confused with Publisher's print-only Master
Pages.

What are they for? Welp, they're for exactly what you thought they were for,
but only not for Publisher Websites.
