ok, I've inserted a custom field that is just a number
field for Physical % Complete. The reason I'm not using
the Project provided field for this is because of the way
that actual hours and remaining hours are directly
affected by Phys. % complete. Here's the idea (then I'll
tell you the problem):
This allows resources to say that they are %50 complete
for example, when they have used either less or more than
%50 of the planned hours. They can also say that even
though they are %50 percent complete they have more than %
50 of the planned hours remaining in order to finish the
task (let's say the last half of the work is more complex
than the first half or they realize it's going to take
longer because of some other issue). We like this
flexibility and it tells us everything we need to know
about a given task.
problem:
Since it's a custom number field, the percentages
don't "roll up" so you can't see how much complete the
overall project is. And also, if a resource does not
consume all of the hours estimated for the task, I
believe that the resource allocations will continue to
show that resource allocated against the task even though
it is actually completed. It seems to me that we either
have to get the PMO Physical Complete % to update in a
similar way as the % Complete or we may have to use the
standard % Complete instead.
Anybody have any ideas???
