%Complete increasing automatically

L

Luc Gestin

Background: we only use the %Complete field to track the progress on tasks,
and increase the Duration field if tasks are recast; we don't use baselined
plan and timesheets!

For some tasks, Project Server automatically increases the %Complete field
to strange amounts and most of the time to %100.

Have you had the same issue in the past? Any idea on how to solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help; MERCI BIEN.

Luc,

Project Server doesnt automatically update your % complete. I would assume
that a user updates "Actual work" or "Actual Duration", ( or remaining work /
duration). This is most likely the reason why Project Server updates your %
complete.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot Marc.
I do not think that a user updates "Actual work" or "Actual Duration"!
Merci bien.

You're not going to get a good answer to this question without posting a
step-by-step sequence of steps to reproduce the behavior. Marc is correct in
stating that Project will only change the completion percent in response to
a change in either work or duration. We can't base troubleshooting on what
you "think" is happening, only on what you can demonstrate.
