Complex font and Latin Text Font

My Format/Font dialogue box began to display two text options this week.
Complex font and Latin Text Font. There are arabic looking characters and a
keyboard right-left option displayed now that were never there before. I
don't know how these got there and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
Does anyone know how to rid the computer of this malady? I would just like
the one "font" option on the text box and in the styles and formatting
display.

Go to the Control Panel > Regional & Language Options and remove all
the other languages (the details differ between XP and Vista).

Tried that, I only have English installed. Also, I went to the keyboard
settings and there is only English installed there also. I have deleted my
'Normal.doc' template, hoping Word would correct it internally, but that
didn't work either. I did a restore to an older version of the template, and
that didn't help. Any other ideas?

From the Windows Start Menu > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft
Office Tools > Language Options, check what language support is enabled
there.
