Complex HTML/SPAM message is crashing my Entourage 2008

Complex HTML/SPAM message is crashing my Entourage 2008 when opening or
previewing. Also happens when forwarding the problematic messages.
Has anyone run into this? I have tried removing HD/Users/<Problematic
User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist and
com.microsoft.explorer.plist. It is happening on multiple messages, new and
old. The messages having the problem are all spamlike messages written in
HTML.

I have also removed my Entourage plist files and tested to no avail. Any
help would be appreciated.

Same message on other like machines, 1 difference, does not cause problems.
Like machine is on 10.5 leopard.

The message is probably corrupt or badly written. Leopard might be handling
it better than Tiger.

Actually, it is happening on multiple messages, new and old. These messages
are from multiple different companies. Also, no matter how poorly a message
is written, I would not expect to have my Entourage crash.

I have tested on 2 other 10.4 machines with no issue.
What are my next steps? These types of messages keep coming in, (standard
marketing email) so deleting only fixes the issue until the next one comes
in.

In addition to trashing the com.microsoft.browserfont.cache, you can also
try trashing the tasmanbrowser.cache, which will be found in your
~/Library/Caches.

Can you "forward as attachment", some examples to me off list? Also list
your test scenarios. Mac OSX version, computers (Intel, PPC)

I tested with Collin's sample on my two Tiger machines (PPC and Intel)
without experiencing any crashes. This makes me think that it's caused by
some setting on just one particular machine. If Diane's suggestions didn't
resolve the problem, perhaps consider reinstalling Office 2008?

Test in a new User to eliminate any conflicts in your User's folder.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test Office there.

I have one or two senders whose messages consistently crash Entourage on my G5. I discovered a workaround that you might try: Go into Entourage Preferences and uncheck Display complex HTML in messages. Then try opening one of the problem emails.

When I uncheck this option, I can open my offending sender's emails without problem, and can even go back and recheck the box and still open the emails without crashing. However, once I quit and reopen the program, I'm back to consistent crashes until I go into Preferences and uncheck the box once more.
