I have tried to reduce the size of my Word document by
using compress pictures command. But without result. All
the picture data is still awailable and the file size the
same. I have Sp-2 installed.
I know there is a similar function in Word 97, but I cant
remember how it was done there.

First, what format are you using before inserting these
pictures into your document (JPG, BMP, CAD, VSD)?

If these are rastered images, it is best to optimize them
before inserting to suit printing and viewing needs. Use
JPG rather than BMP and be sure to reduce the size to
absolute minimum that will enable the best trade-off for
viewing and size.

Pictures are mostly JPG. The problem is that there are
houndreds of documents, made by others, with several
pictures inserted (document size can be up to 30-60MB).
These documents are now transfered to a new system and
document size reduced.
That is the "compress pictures" button doing in Word if it
dosnt work?
It works in Power point.
