Compressed pictures-how can I get that off my pictures, I can't se

My pictures won't display on my screen, they print and view in preview but I
can't see them to work with, I don't even know how they got compressed,
please help me somebody, I have a job to do but I can't get it done cause I
can't get the pictures to display? thank you if you can help me, I'm getting
desperate I have to get the job done and support won't answer me on email.
