hi i am compressing c drive to free up space. after 1/3 through the process
window pops up saying you are deleting original windows xp files, please
insert you windows xp professional cd rom to fix this problem (different
wording but the meaning was like this). I did insert my Microsoft Office
Professional Edition 2003 CDs and I tried the Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007
Cds none of the four CD Roms would be excepted. What happened? Can I fix the
problem?

Did you try the Windows XP operating system CD that was requested?

Dubious results to be expected from this endeavor. If you have a space
issue, you are much better off replacing the drive with a larger one.

if you are using the
compress feature
provided by the
disk property page,

then you should not
use it or you will
loose everything.

that feature was
designed for 10
gigabyte drives or
less.

perhaps, you should
run cleanmgr and then
move some of the data
from the disk to dvd's
or something.
