Compressing excel files

Hi!

I have a file that includes 8 worksheets and is about 30.1 KB. I do
not understand why it is so large, as I do not have many formulas, and
only a few charts. Is there a way to compress the size of the file
without zipping? I tried using "Save as" rather than "Save", but it
made little difference.

Thanks.

Meg,

30 KB isn't large at all. A workbook with three empty sheets is around 13
KB. Or do you mean 30 MB? That's pretty large.

I bet you meant 30 meg (not 30K).

You're not saving the file as one of those combo xl95/xl97&xl2k files are you?
(I bet not.)

I think that the one thing that's easy to fix that makes the filesize smaller is
resetting the lastused cell on each worksheet.

Debra Dalgleish has some notes and pictures at:

If hitting ctrl-End takes you way past what you think should be the last cell,
you'll want to check it out.
