Compressing pictures

Word 2008 doesn't compress images.

If I may editorialize a bit :) that shouldn't be the function of a *word*
processing program in the first place. Yes, PC Word does have a compression
feature but it's very limited in options & efficacy. A much better workflow
(IMHO) is to process the images to the appropriate resolution & print
dimensions with a legitimate graphics editor before putting them into any
other type of file... The less it gets hacked at by ancillary "me-too"
features in another type of file the more likely it is to retain it's
fidelity & remain stable. And such software doesn't have to be complex &
expensive. You may want to check out the following as well as others:

Does anyone know how to compress pictures in word for mac 2008?

i only wish there was a way. ive looked it up numerous times...this is
what ive found

Yes. Much better to use a proper graphics editor or photo editor to do
this. You will get much better results.
