Hello, there is no way to compress an actual PPTX or PPT file, but you can try and save space by placing an image on a Master slide rather than several actual slides. Also, if you have sounds you can link them rather than embed them to save space. There is also the Save As Package option that creates a folder with linked sounds, movies and pictures as well as the PPT file which should save some space.

There is a 'compress images' function on Powerpoint for standard pcs, is there a similar function on Powerpoint for Mac?

Hi,

At this time there is not.

However, you can use File > Save As and choose a picture file type, such
as JPEG. That will make a folder containing pictures of your
presentation. The default setting will save them at 72 dpi, although you
can adjust this in PowerPoint's Save preferences.

Is there a way to request of the Mac Business Unit that an image compression feature similar to that in PPT 2003 & 2007 be incorporated into the next version of PPT for Mac? 2010 maybe? Another thing that would be great
For our firm, we do a lot of oversized printing of image-heavy decks which necessitates images larger than 96dpi. But the file size is often ludicrous for actually presenting, as you might imagine.
I'd just like to throw that out there.

Hi,

Yes, there is a way!

In PowerPoint's Help menu is an option to send feedback to Microsoft.
All feedback sent via that mechanism is read by the product managers.
There's no better way to let Microsoft know your feature request.
