My Dell Inspiron 8200 recently crashed and told me that
the ...../Config/system file was either corrupt or non
existant and to reload windows XP. Dell did not provide
me with a rovery disc and I had them send me a new
reinstallation Cd. Once loaded my existing microsoft
office programs will not load and the message tells me
that they are registered to another user. Dells solution
is for me to back up my hard drive ( 22 GIG) reload XP
and my office xp service pack will then reload office. I
have reloaded all my non microsft software and the data
files all work and everything is fine. I do not want to
have to go through the exhaustive proceedure of
reformating. Is there a way I that I can access the
Office XP files already resident in my computer? What
can I do to have Office XP recognize me as the correct
user?
