computer hangs when any graphics are introduced

Phil

When I recently opened a word document with an embedded
graphic in it, as the cursor got down to the graphic, the
computer hung up with a message stating that windows had
recovered from a device error. I have also discovered
that inserting anything like WordArt, Organization chart,
etc. also hangs it up. I can however insert a clipart
with no problems. I noticed these problems
(coincidently?) after the computer hung up a couple of
weeks ago while I was downloading, and a newly installed
screen saver (SereneScenes Aquarium) would hang up the
computer every time I tried opening it. I have since
uninstalled the screen saver, reinstalled OfficeXP with
no luck. Would anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

You may need to update or reinstall your graphics
card driver or clean up your hard drive.
If you're using Word 2002 see if starting it in
Office safe mode (hold ctrl key when starting)
after first deleteing all files located with
Start=>Find/Search and search string of ~$*.do*;*.tmp
makes a difference
