Computer locks up when I scroll

Need help with a problem in Word. Everytime I open a document in Word and
try to scroll my whole computer locks up. I have already tried to reinstall
Office and the same thing still keeps happening. So the only conclusions that
I have come up with are that it's either a bug or virus or a hardware issue
(possibly with ram). Any advice would be appreciated.

It could be an issue with your graphics driver. Does it lock up if you
start Windows in Safe Mode? If not then update your driver and see if
the issue continues to occur.
