Tools-> E-mail Accounts-> button Next-> select your POP3 account-> button
Change-> field Your Name:
That is the field that controls what the receiver sees in the From field.
If you are talking about the Internet Headers (right click a message and
choose Options...) and scroll through all the data then you will see indeed
your computername. The header shows all involved computers/servers for
succesfully delivering the message. You cannot change this.

Boy Robert, I wish I knew what you were looking at. Are we talking about the
same thing, the computer name? When I check under "Internet Email Settings
(POP3) I find allot of different name fields, but none of them are the name
of the computer. Under "User Information" there was "Your Name:" and "Email
Address:". Under "Login Information" there was "User Name:" and "Password:".
Under "Server Information" there was "Incoming Server (POP3):" and "Outgoing
Server (SMTP):". Under "More Settings"/"General" there was "Mail Account
Name" and under "Other User Information" there was "Organization:" and
"Reply
Email". The only place I can find what's being displayed in the email
headers, the computer name, is under "Control Panel"/"System"/"Computer
Name". I can't find that info anywhere in Outlook or Internet Email
Settings.
I've looked in both Outlook 2002 and 97 on two different machines each with
their own computer name. On both computers and on webmail, the name of the
sending computer, if it's using Outlook, is found within the email header of
the recipient's email. If a different email program is used, the computer
name is not in the email header.

In your POP3 account properties you can set the name being displayed at
the
sender's end.

Hmmm, don't seem to have "display name" in Tools->E-mail Accounts in
Outlook
02 or 97. I can change the name of the pop3 account, but that is not
what
is
being displayed in the headers. The computer name (that is accessed and
modified in Windows system properties) is what's being displayed in the
e-mail headers.
:
Change the display name in your account setup; Tools-> E-mail Accounts

Outlook is identifying and sending the name of the computer that
outgoing
e-mail is coming from. Some other e-mail programs don't do this.
Is
there
any
way to stop Outlook from including the name of the sending
computer
in
outgoing e-mail headers?
