computer printing to typewriter

Rox

I have a document in Word that I print out on an IBM Wheelwriter. There are a few characters that DO NOT print out on the document. The characters are 1) underline 2) ' foot sign 3) " inch sign. The characters are displayed on the Word document but will not print to typewriter. When typing the inch and foot sign it looks like a different font than what I have for the rest of the document. It almoste looks "italic", but it is not. Then, I have a certain inch and foot sign that has been saved on previous documents that looks different AND prints out. Does this make any sense? Basically, it apprears that some of the font is not reading to the typewriter. It seems like mostly "character" fonts. Anyone know what to do?

Hi Rox,

It sounds like it may not be recognizing smart quotes.

Go to Tools/AutoCorrect Options and on the AutoFormat as you Type tab turn off "Straight quotes with smart quotes".

If this resolves the problem then to correct previously typed documents use the following:
- Go to Edit/Replace
- In Find What type: "
- In Replace With type: "
- Click Replace All
- Do the same for your single quotes
