Computer reboots when doing disk cleanup of "compress old files"

After I do a Disk Cleanup, I can check all boxes except Compress Old Files
and the program will complete itself. When I check the box for Compress Old
Files and preform the cleanup my computer reboots after a minute or so.
Where else can I go to delete these files?

You might want to post this to a general group for your version of Windows
as Disk Cleanup is one of the windows functions, not MIcrosoft Office. If
Windows XP, then microsoft.public.windowsxp.general might be a good place to
start.
