Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to help you. There is more
going on here than you are able to describe and the detail needed to assist
with this problem appears to be beyond your expertise to describe.
Not a knock against you, but we can't stand over your shoulder to see what
you are doing and you lack the experience to tell us in detail what you are
doing at each step nor what steps you took to place your computer in a
position to shut down when it awakens from hibernation.
Perhaps someone else will be able to assist you in this issue.

After furious head scratching, Greta asked:
| I'm not sure what you mean w/symptons, I thought stating the computer
| shuts down when programs are minimized would cover it. I do not what
| else to say. I am not a tech person, do not know any other way to
| describe it. AT&T went through all the Outlook email accounts
| reconfigured them, installed AVG virus protection, removed Norton,
| removed some photo programs I do not use. The send & receive
| starting working again. I mentioned Outlook as that is the program I
| leave minimized all the time. Previously the monitor would go black
| which I was told is the sleep mode. The next time I would check
| emails, I would move my mouse, the desktop showed, Outlook minimized,
| I would click on Outlook bar on the bottom, emails would be there I
| would go about doing what I wanted on the computer at that time.
|
| The computer would only shut down if I went through Start & shut it
| down. Now it does it on it's own. Something must be telling it to
| somewhere. I do not know where. The IT tech person from my office
| told me to change in the Control Panel, Power Options, info was
| already there. I changed it by 5 minutes, hit apply, then closed out
| and came back on. Nothing changed. Last night I left Outlook &
| Excel minimized, this morning when I checked the computer the
| programs had been closed and the computer was down.
|
| I am sorry if this is not enough info, I don't have any more info.
