computer won't read installation CD! can i get program online...?

A

Ashley

I just got Microsoft Office 2007 and didn't realize that both the CD-ROM and
DVD drives on my computer don't work...my computer is pretty old! When I
insert the installation CD, nothing happens. I have my security key,
obviously, is there a way to download the entire program online somewhere
using my existing key without having to re-purchase the entire thing? I
REALLY hope there is! Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ashley,

It can depend on the edition of Office 2007 you have. While repairing/replacing the drive through a local computer shop would
likely be the way to go, you can try downloading the trial via
http://trymicrosoftoffice.com and following the procedure for converting it from a trial to a perpetual (full product) license.

Hopefully you have a fast connection as it's a fairly large download.

Thanks for the help Bob! I installed the trial verson of Office Professional
2007, but now not sure how I am supposed to "upgrade" to full version (sorry,
not used to having to do this stuff online). Everything I see involves me
buying the program which I don't want to do because i already own it! Just
want to know if/how to use the product key I already have...thanks!

A new, replacement cd/dvd, would cost about a tenth the price of Office
And that assumes your drive is actually faulty.

Fix the drive problem, you will need it
