concantenate help please

can anyone please help.

what i would like to do is to concantenate a string of fields, but not in a
line, in a column. the reason for not just placing the field on the report
in a column, is that if a field (an answer to a question in a 1-1 table) is
blank there will be spaces. so i thought if i concantenate that will miss
out blank spaces, now i need to force a column.

i hope this makes sense thanks in advance richard

You've described a "how", as in how you are trying to accomplish something.

Could you decribe a bit more about "what"? (not the concatenate, not the
field not the spaces, but what you want to do and why)

There may be other ways than the one you've chosen.

hi jeff,

i want to show a list of client preferences in response to a set of
questions. i was giong to put each field on the report, but if the answer
was blank (which is ok) then there wuold be spaces in the list. i cant do
this as a sub report as this is not a seperate table and the questions are
all different.

currently the concantenated field does what i want in terms of no spaces
when an answer is blank, but it gives me the answers in a line when i would
like them in a column list. i have tried to change the length of the field
which receivced the concantenate, but this does not work either.

what i really need is to put the fields on the report but of the answer is
blank to be able to move up the remainder of the answers so as not to leave
blank spaces.

i hope this all makes sense. thanks richard

Please share your table structure and some sample records. Then describe how
you would like these records to display in your report.

I expect you might have "committed spreadsheet" (phrase pilfered from Jeff
B.) but I can't be sure.
