Concordance File

I need to generate an index for a 350+ page book (master
document with 5 subdocuments)

I actually need to create multiple indices. The author
wants to divide the indices into groups...a general
index, persons, ships, locations, and so on.

I would like an example of a concordance file and any
helpful hints.
