Condensing MS word document

I have a one page MS word document but it was initially two pages, an
due to some shortening of the text, it is now one page with text and a
entire proceeding blank page.

Is there a way to get rid of the empty page, so it is a simple one pag
document?

Thanks

Turn on Non-Printing Characters (Ctril-Shift-8) and delete all the
paragraph marks that appear after the end of your text.

If by "proceeding" you mean "preceding" and the blank page is at the
start, then there may be a Page Break at the beginning, or a whole lot
of empty paragraphs (see above), or the first paragraph is marked Page
Break Before. You fix that by going to the Paragraph pane (right-click
in the first paragraph, choose Paragraph): go to the second tab, and
uncheck "Page Break Before."
