Conditional Format an entire row

Using both Excel 2003 and 2007 (different machines)

Example of what I am trying to do. I have a list of people's names and
dates they are scheduled to volunteer. First name is in Column A, Last Name
is in Column B, Date is in Column C.

I want to set up a conditional format that will color the entire row (first
name, last name, date) for an individual name. When I set my conditional
format condition to check for "Fred" and color it green, I can get each
cell in A colored green for Fred. But I want the whole row colored green so
Fred can easily see the date he is scheduled to volunteer.

Can you help??

Highlight the entire block of data, the conditional formatting would
be =$A1="Fred"

Excellent!! Thank you!! The conditional format condition had to be changed
to "formula is" rather than "cell value is" for the whole row to be picked
up.

Just to add to JP's solution, the active (white) cell of the selection must be in row 1 for
this to work properly. Often it will be, but it's possible, depending on how the selection
is made, for it to be elsewhere.

Thanks for the input. My data actually starts in Row 3, but I made the
adjustment to the conditional formatting formula.
