Conditional formatting based on if statement.

I am trying to have different cells colors based on a list of province and
state abbreviations. Ex. If cell C6= NB, NS, or PE......... change background
to red, else change to green. Is this to much to expect or is it possible.

Under CF, select "Formula Is" and put:

=OR(C6="NB",C6="NS",C6="PE")

Press the "Format" button and choose red on the Pattern
tab.

Create a 2nd condition by pressing "Add>>" and use:

=OR(C6<>"NB",C6<>"NS",C6<>"PE")

Select green on the Pattern tab.
