Conditional Formatting

I have this problem with conditional formatting. I used it to place a pattern in each cell where
the formula returns a 0. Problem is that it seems that there is a limit as to how many excell will
allow. When I go to save the worksheet, Excel returns an error. It doesn't say what the error is
but it cleraly is the conditional formatting. It does save the sheet but when I open it, it only
have the conditional formatting up to the maximum and then everything else is blank.

So, the question! Is there another way to accomplish placing a dot pattern in a series of ranges
where the formula returns 0?

Thanks for all help.

What's the exact error message? If it only occurs on Save, then it's
very unlikely to be related to Conditional Formatting. A CF error
will occur as you try to apply an incorrect CF.
