It is possible:
If A1:A10 is your range of values then use this formula in the
conditional format dialog: =LARGE(A1:A10,x)
Replace x with 1 for the highest value, 2 for the second highest value
and 3 for the third highest value. But note, if your highest value is
10 and you range contains this value three times then LARGE(A1:A10,2)
and LARGE(A1:A10,3) will both return 10.
