Conditional Formatting

The help system advises that you can apply up to 7 conditional formats in excel 2008, an increase over the 3 conditions in 2004. However I can only get 3 to appear! Can anyone verify the same problem - i.e. the help system is wrong, or have I missed something?

Unfortunately, you can only apply 3 conditional formats. The help topic is
wrong. I'll post a bug to update the topic.

Thanks,

Pat

It is unfair that there is a limit of 3 especially when there is no such limits in Office for Windows. Having swithced over to the Mac, and being a big user of conditional formatting, it was a shock to find out that it no longer works properly and I am limited to 3.

Thank you for the definitive response - albeit disappointing!

It now seems that the new version will not embed number format changes and all my sterling currency entries revert to dollars on a reopen!

I just love new versions/upgrades!

Thank you. We have heard a growing number of requests for additional
conditions for conditional formatting, so we are considering that for a
future version.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi,

We are aware of that issue and are investigating it now. In the meantime, it
should work correctly if you set the cell format using the Format Cells
dialog or use the "Accounting" format from the Formatting Palette.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi,

It does, but I have to correct the currency entry every time I open the worksheet. After closing and opening it, all Euro signs are changed into dollars.

No, excuse me. You are right. But after selecting "Accounting", I made some adjustments to the format by using "custom". My mistake
