conditional text and document version strategies

W

William Now

FrameMaker allows you to create unlimited different versions of a document
based on user-defined conditions (eg. Model 1, Model 2, Model 3). Text can
be tagged with that condition name. Then when you want to create a
particular document version (eg. Model 1) only the text associated with that
condition is displayed.

(1) Does Word have any similar capabilities? If yes, which version? 2007?
(2) Is there a reliable plug-in that does this?
(3) Does anyone have a work-around that is NOT cumbersome and could actually
handle MANY conditions,( eg. 15 models).

THANKS.

The short answer is no, but you may be able to cobble something
together from http://www.gmayor.com/SelectFile.htm Whether that is
overly complicated of cumbersome only you can judge.

You could create separate versions of documents - see
http://www.gmayor.com/save_numbered_versions.htm
