Conditionally Format Today's Recurring Appointments

Hi All:
When I use the monthly calendar view in Outlook, I have trouble seeing which
day is today. To make it easier for me, I customized the current view so
that it used a conditional format to color code all appointments in which
the start day is today. The only problem is with recurring
appointments...they do not take on the color...presumably because the start
day is in the past.

Is there a way that I can color code recurring appointments, where the
special color only shows up when it's today?

Which version of Outlook are you using?
Outlook 2007 adds a different background color and header color to the
current day to make it strike.

Thansk for responding. Sorry for the delay...there was an attempt burglary at
my house. Anyhow, my version is Outlook 2003. I can't seem to come up with a
conditional format that will make a recurring appt. change color only when the
appt. falls today.

Thanks for responding. I don't think the birthday filter idea will work. I
have Outlook 2003 & say a recurring appt. every Friday. I would like to find a
conditional format that will change that appt. to a different color, only when
today reaches that appt.

I'll play around with views and see if I can make it work but note that all
items within the recurring appt may be colored too.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope all is ok.

I think it will be hard to find a conditional formatting rule that will work
(if there is any already) without affecting the recurring appointments. If
it recurs a couple of times per month, it kind of defeats the purpose ;-)

Lets try a different approach here;
There is a header highlight in Outlook 2003 as well for the current day.
Unfortunately with the default background color, it's not that obvious (I'm
color blind so the highlight is even less obvious for me). Changing the
background color to white helped me a great deal actually seeing the
highlight. In addition, pressing ALT+o (or the Today button) changes the
selection to the current date and you'll see the jump of the blue selection
bar.

To change your calendar's background color go to;
Tools-> Options-> Calendar Options...-> Background color

Hi Roady:
I like your idea. I knew that the header jumped to today, but I, too, have
trouble seeing it. Changing the background color helps!! I'll experiment
with a few different backgounds, but white is easier than the default pale
yellow.
